Butter Chicken - "Awesome" as per NoChemistry

Background: We just went through a nasty flu, and had very few fresh ingredients at home. I did have a lot of freezer and canned stuff. I did have fresh yoghurt and wondered if I could do a butter chicken without cream. Et voila. No Chemistry - a self professed Butter Chicken Connoisseur- loved this.

To be honest, I thought it turned out quite tasty. It definitely had a yoghurty taste, as opposed to a creamy-only taste. My (other) super easy butter chicken recipe is considerably easier.

1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp butter
1 bunch spring onions
2 medium tomatoes chopped
2 tbsp tomato paste
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch cube ginger, minced
1 cup yoghurt, preferably 3%
1/2 tsp garam masala
kasoori methi, as needed
salt, as needed

10-12 pieces Chicken thighs sliced
1-1.5 tbsp tandoori masala
1/2 large lime juice
3 large green chillies sliced
1 bunch fresh coriander leaves

Fry garlic, ginger, onions in oil and butter.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste. Fry till oil separates.
Add yoghurt. Fry till oil separates. Warning: This will splutter like a volcano as seen on National Geographic.
Add garam masala. Add salt to taste.

In separate pan, cook chicken, lemon juice, tandoori masala and green chillies. Add salt to taste.

Add chicken to yoghurt sauce/curry. Add Kasoori Methi, Coriander Leaves.

Heat through.

Serve with Tandoori Roti or Naan.
